The accident that killed Alexia Rosales at Excelled Montessori Plus in Texas may have been caused by a medical condition that the driver possessed, according to authorities.
Following a “tragic” crash that brought down a fence and struck multiple preschool-aged children, a teacher in San Antonio, Texas, her away, according to local enforcement.
At a press conference, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that the accident happened at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday as parents were picking up their kids from Excelled Montessori Plus following a holiday performance. According to the sheriff, an unnamed parent got her kids into her car while they were being picked up, then sped into the building and another car.
Salazar claims that after the parent hit the second car, both cars ended up colliding with a fence on the other side of which a number of kids were playing. When the collision happened, the now-deceased teacher was playing with the kids when she was pinned beneath one of the cars “for some time,” according to the sheriff.
According to Salazar, she passed away at the scene even though firefighters used a hydraulic lift to remove her from beneath the car. According to the sheriff, all five of the children who were sent to a hospital for medical care for a variety of injuries ranging from serious to preventative are still alive.
According to Salazar, authorities have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash because the parent involved had a prior medical history that could have played a role. He stated that he was unsure if she would face any criminal charges. Although he was unaware of the other driver’s precise state, the sheriff believed she was in good health.
