As expected, Nvidia introduced the new RTX Blackwell family of GPUs on Monday to begin their CES 2025 address. The RTX 5090 is the line’s focal point. Although the card looks a lot like its predecessor, it now has 1.8 TB/s of bandwidth, 92 billion transistors, 4,000 AT TOPS, and 380 ray-tracing TFLOPS.
The lecture that evening showcased the 5090’s incredibly stunning real-time demos, which included full ray tracing and intricately realistic images with intricate texturing.
According to Nvidia, the new high-end GPU may outperform the 4090 by up to two times.
The price of the RTX 5090 is an astounding $2,000. Meanwhile, the prices of the RTX 8050, 5070 Ti, and 5070 are $999, $749, and $549, respectively. It is true that certain laptops running the 5070 will be hundreds of dollars less expensive than the standalone 5090.
The business further states that the 50 series,
“delivers breakthroughs in AI-driven rendering, including neural shaders, digital human technologies, geometry and lighting.”
On the other hand, laptops with the most advanced Blackwell GPU will start to retail for less than $3,000.
Starting in March, laptops with the 5090, 5080, and 5070 Ti will be offered. Next month, RTX 5070 laptops will be delivered. Razer, Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and MSI. All of them have created notebooks with GPUs.
CEO Jensen Huang is adamant that Nvidia is taking the lead in manufacturing this time around, despite years of supply chain problems and rising demand driven by AI.He said
“Blackwell, the engine of AI, has arrived for PC gamers, developers and creatives,” the executive adds. “Fusing AI-driven neural rendering and ray tracing, Blackwell is the most significant computer graphics innovation since we introduced programmable shading 25 years ago.”
“We used GeForce to enable AI,” Huang poignantly noted, “and now AI is revolutionizing GeForce.”
