Trump pledged to address divisive topics, indicating strong opposition to critical race theory and what he called “transgender insanity” in schools.
At Sunday’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, president-elect Donald Trump captivated the audience with a scathing indictment of “woke culture,” eliciting strong emotions and a prominent support from tech billionaire Elon Musk. Musk wrote an enthusiastic “YES!” as the description for a widely shared video of Trump’s comments on social media.
Trump stated to thunderous applause.
“Woke has to stop. It’s destroying our country. Woke is bullshit,”
His remarks, which focused on renaming American military installations and other cultural hot spots, were the main focus of a speech that was full of contentious pledges and policy announcements. Among these was Trump’s promise to rename Fort Bragg in North Carolina, which was renamed Fort Liberty recently.
Trump pledged to combat the divisive topics and voice opposition to them, characterizing them as
“transgender insanity”.
He also addresses it as a promising sweeping change…
“I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation, get transgender out of the military, and out of our elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools,”
The president also elected the committed barring transgender women from competing in the women’s sport.
“It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.”
Disparities in LGBTQ+ Policies Across the Nation
The address was given in the midst of growing divisions in the US over LGBTQ+ rights. While Democrat-led states have taken action to defend such rights, GOP-led states have enacted legislation limiting transgender youth’s access to medical treatments and removing LGBTQ+ literature from school libraries. Trump’s pledges highlight his dedication to culture war concerns as core tenets of his platform.
“Liberation Day” and the Objectives of Domestic Policy
Additionally, Trump outlined his plans for his first day in office, which he called “Liberation Day.” He pledged to remove “woke ideology” from governmental institutions, increase domestic energy production, and crack down on illegal immigration.
Trump blasted the Obama administration’s decision to rename Mount McKinley to Denali as an homage to the past. “McKinley was a very good, maybe a great president,” he declared, vowing to return the peak to its former name. He merits that recognition.
