President Trump marked an executive order for developing a US version of Israel’s “Iron Dome” missile defense system. The system will defend against ballistic, hypersonic, and sail missiles, along with the smart implementation plan which is due within 60 days.
US President Donald Trump marked an executive order by initiating plans for the development of an advanced air defense system. This is very similar to Israel’s highly successful “Iron Dome.” The new system is designed to defend against ballistic, and advanced cruise missiles. That also includes the proper utilization of space-based interceptors.
Implementation Plan
The executive order directs the US defense secretary to submit the implementation plan within the upcoming 60 days. He also stated, “We need to immediately begin the construction of a state-of-the-art iron dome missile defense shield which will be able to protect Americans.”
Trump also reflected the attention on past efforts, saying, “We protect other countries, but we don’t protect ourselves. And when Ronald Reagan wanted to do it many years ago, luckily we didn’t. We didn’t have the technology then. It was a concept, but we didn’t. And now we have phenomenal technology. You see that with Israel.”
The executive order pointed out the growing threat from the next-generation strategic weapons. Also said, “Over the past 40 years, rather than lessening, the threat from next-generation strategic weapons has become more intense and complex,”.
Trump’s remarks on Israel’s success
The US president hailed Israel’s “Iron Dome,”. It has been instrumental in blocking thousands of rockets fired by adversaries like Hamas and Hezbollah. While speaking at a Republican congressional retreat in Miami, Trump pointed out the system’s effectiveness by saying: “They knock down just about every one of them.”
Trump further stated: “So I think the United States is entitled to that.” His earlier announced system’s plan will be constructed in the US, also signaling a long-term commitment to missile defense. The new initiatives reflect Trump’s ongoing focus on strengthening the country’s defense capabilities in the face of upcoming global threats.
