The current and former US officials knew about the incident. They also spoke based on the condition of anonymity hence they were not authorized to share the information.
I also came a day after DOGE carried out a similar operation at the Treasury Department. Gaining access the sensitive information that included social security and the Medicare customer payment system.
Musk developed DOGE in partnership with the new Trump administration with the stated goal of discovering ways to fire federal workers. Their target is to cut programs and slash federal regulations.
