Asia-wide manufacturing PMI data, including the Caixin PMI survey for China, will be made public by S&P Global on Monday.
October was the biggest year-over-year increase in retail sales in Australia, up 3.4%, since May 2023.
Later in the day, Indonesia will reveal its November inflation figures.
The small-cap Kosdaq was up 0.13%, while South Korea’s Kospi was trading at the flatline. South Korea’s exports climbed at their slowest rate since September 2023, according to preliminary trade statistics released over the weekend.
November’s 1.4% year-over-year growth in exports fell sharply from the 4.6% increase in October and fell short of the 2.8% growth forecast by Reuters’ poll of experts.
Nonetheless, the broad-based Topix was up 0.68%, while Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 was slightly higher.
The CSI 300 in mainland China grew by 0.26%, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong increased by 0.21%. Following an acceleration in the growth of new property prices in China in November, the Hang Seng Mainland Properties Index saw a 0.5% increase.
